Are you an online business “burnout” or are you a “newbie”?

If you’re a burnout, you’ve probably tried many online businesses promising you overnight riches. If you’re a newbie, you’ve probably been tempted by those offers. Either way, there is NO TRUTH in offers of overnight riches. The only overnight riches are the money these people make from YOU, the opportunity seeker!

An online business is like a brick-and-mortar business to the extent that you must work at achieving your own success - and you have to spend time and, yes, money to advertise your business to other like-minded individuals who are looking for a way out of their paycheck-to-paycheck life.

So, the question is which business and how much money do you spend! A Google search of “home based business” or “business opportunity” will yield a myriad of sites to investigate - all promising something to entice you into their product or service. So, how do you make an informed choice?

The first thing is to research - yes, more work! There’s lots of hype on the internet to filter through, so you have to have a criteria for a “real business search.” A few things you should look for are:

* Do they have a contact link where you can actually speak to a person?

* Do they offer a money-back guarantee? (NOTE: Read the disclaimer carefully.)

* Do they offer a training program or just a product that you buy and then you’re on your own?

* Do they have a solid business model?

* Is it a good fit for your current tech savvy skills?

If you’re in the proverbial financial bind that so many are experiencing today, you are particularly vulnerable to predatory sales copy - probably more so than at any other time in your life. So, be cautious of those sites that tell you want you want to hear - there are no magic genies or instant cures.

In today’s economy of rising gas prices, failing big business and layoffs, the world of internet business is experiencing growth not seen since the East Texas oil field boom! I’m from East Texas, and I remember driving along the roads and seeing all the sawhorse oil wells pumping away, generating thousands of dollars for their owners - and wondering how to get a piece of the action.
